Illuminated Art Car Parade, Manchester City Centre

…as part of Manchester’s Christmas
Thursday 26th November, 6.30 – 8pm

After the UK’s very first Art Car Parade took place in Manchester in September 2007, the troupe of vehicles returns in Manchester’s first Illuminated Art Car Parade.

Before the parade, there will be a chance to meet the artists and get a good look at their machines, as they line up in Cathedral Gardens from 3 until 6.30pm.  The parade will begin at 6.30pm and makes its way through the City, arriving at Albert Square around 7pm, before lining up in Mount Street for prize-giving at 7.30pm.

Walk the Plank are now calling for public entries: anybody who owns an Art Car could be part of the Art Car Parade if they contact the company in advance. And that’s not the only way the public can get involved: Walk the Plank are urging people to illuminate their buggies, skateboards bicycles and even themselves. There’ll be prizes for those displaying the best illumination.

The parade will also mark the exclusive reveal of three new and specially commissioned Art Cars… more information will be released soon!

The new commissions have been supported by Arts Council England, and the Art Car Parade event is supported by Manchester City Council
