Mobile Mechanical Sound Sculpture

A stripped down 4×4 rebuilt as a mobile mechanical sound sculpture. An orchestra verging on chaos where the operator sitting up high up in the ‘crows nest’ cab at the front of the vehicle, wrestles with leaves and switches, attempting to maintain a semblance of harmony amongst the instruments. It will be a mass of pulleys and gears powering percussion, wind and string instruments that are all fabricated from industrial scrap. The engine and the sound sculpture will be exposed giving a skeletal feel to the relationship between the forms and spaces of the various elements of the sculpture.
